"I'm currently organizing my house and my studio for the 2013 Fairfield Artists Studio Tour on Saturday April 27 and Sunday April 28 from 11am to 5pm. If you are in the neighbourhood, please stop by for a visit.
I'm at 209 Linden Avenue. A map of all the artist studios and their information is available on the tour website linked above. There are many talented and wonderful people in the show and it's a great way to enjoy a weekend in our beautiful city. It's my second year doing the Fairfield tour.
I love participating in this event as it's an opportunity to shed the solitude of painting in the studio and paint in the presence of friends, neighbours and art-lovers that delight me with honest and real-time feedback on my work."

Saturday July 21, 2012 on Moss Street between Fort Street and Dallas Road
Jonathan Gleed was proud to be one of the artists chosen to be included in this year's TD Art Gallery Paint-In:
The Paint-In is a community outreach initiative featuring 150 invited professional and emerging artists from Victoria and surrounding areas. Artists take their studios to the street to display and produce their work on Moss Street between Fort Street and Dallas Road. The Paint-In is a free and fun-filled community-based art awareness and education event that sees up to 35,000 visitors. Once again TD is demonstrating its commitment to supporting the visual arts as the Paint-In's Title sponsor, back by further support from the City of Victoria.
Visitors to the event have the opportunity to meet with an enormous variety of artists and learn about their work and techniques. Ultimately, the event allows local artists access to a receptive audience while encouraging an appreciation of the arts among the visitors. Over 200 volunteers plus the participating artists dedicate more than 3,800 hours to make this exceptional community event possible."
Please visit the TD Art Gallery Paint-In website for more information.

"Garry Oak" by Jonathan Gleed was published in Framing the Garden, the legacy project of Linda Rogers, the City of Victoria's poet laureate. The anthology of poetry and paintings, which features some of Victoria's most respected poets and artists, was launched on December 18, 2011.
Gleed's painting was inspired by author and poet, Doug Beardley's poem Backdrop of Garry Oaks which it accompanies in this dynamic collection.
"I am thrilled that the City of Victoria has chosen this book as my poet laureate legacy project. Artists should work together as models of co-operation for the world around us. As in the time of Keats, truth and beauty live together. I wanted my legacy project to reflect that desideratum. In Victoria we have artists, poets, painters and dancers collaborating all the time. Companies like Suddenly Dance and Ballet Victoria include spoken word in their performances. Many of our poets work with musicians. Ekphrasis, poets responding to visual art, is common practice."
- Linda Rogers.
The book is published by Ekstatis Editions and can be purchased here.
